I know we’re encouraged not to blame others for our actions, whether for good or evil, but I’m doing it anyway. I’ve started a blog – and I blame Twitter.
Before my relationship with Twitter began, I was happy. Happy either keeping my thoughts, plans and annoyances to myself, or sharing them with friends, family and co-workers (some of which who didn’t voluntarily opt-in). Before my relationship with Twitter began, it never even crossed my mind that complete strangers would care about what I had to say or share. And before….you know, I had no idea how the impact of timely information sharing would affect my life.
So Twitter came along and it turned my world upside down. We were a perfect match. Small bits of sharing, to people who did opt-in, with the ability for me to give and receive information at a comfortable pace of my choosing. Oh, and it became a great extension of my business brand. Perfect.
Now over a year later Twitter and I have moved passed the honeymoon stage. We’ve settled into a comfortable pace, know what we can expect out of each other and, sometimes, are pleasantly surprised by the introduction of something special to spice things up. I consider myself very dedicated, and although date Facebook and Flickr as well with Twitter’s consent, began to feel something else missing. Realizing that finally, once in a while, I have more to share than 140 characters, I decided to cheat — with a blog.
With that said, welcome to my blog. I’ll be rambling about graphic design, social media and other addictions related to creativity, visual communications and social media. An expert on the aforementioned I am not. And if you find yourself reading my posts and asking yourself, “why did this lady feel like she needed to blog,” remember…..Twitter made me do it.
